The USS Renaissance is a fictional ship with fictional characters. Reason for its existence is to enjoy yourself and the other members. However, every game needs rules, so here are the nine commandments.

Also we strongly recommend that you read the section relative to the Non Playing Characters and Out Of Character notes. The Nine Commandments:

1: All posts have to be approved by the Captain or First Officer. They will approve anything that is within good taste and doesn't bring damage to the storyline of the game.

2: Rank is given by the Captain. As Odysseus said: We can't all be king, or in this case, we can't all be Captain. Just remember that all positions on board have the potential of being equally entertaining.

3: You are encouraged to post at least once a week, but don't be shy to post more. If personal life is getting in the way of posting please let the Captain or XO know.

4: If your ideas will impact heavily on the current story line, please consult the Captain or XO first.

5: Keep your posts somewhat realistic. A Vulcan will not belch in public and not even the bravest Klingon can kill a hundred Borg with his bare hands.

6: Keep in line with the current plot, and try to keep up with the other characters on the ship. If your post will heavily involve other characters please collaborate on a joint post with them.

7 of 9: At the beginning of a post, before the story begins, try to indicate particulars about the story you're going to write, such as location and timeframe, using the following format:

Location: [eg: Engineering] (indicates where the post takes place)
Timeframe: [eg: Between XXX and YYY] (especially useful if you have to back-post)

Put [ON] at the beginning of the script and [OFF] at the end . Also remember to always identify yourself and your position aboard. eg: Captain Odos

8: Posts can be written in either story telling or script style. We do ask that you only use one writing style in any post. If you do use script style then please follow this format:

a. Odos: Fire torpedos! (speech)
b. Cody: *gives Odos a meaningful glance* (action)
c. Odos: ~This can not be right~ (thought)
d. Odos: =/\= Odos to Cody =/\= (hailing with combadge)
e. Servok: @Vulcans usually do not communicate telepathically@ (activity of a telepathic nature)

9: Where possible, try to give another crew member something to say or do at the end of your post.
