General Informations - The Dragsa

Biology:
Dragsa stand between 4" and 5" tall and weigh between 80 to 100 lbs. Their skin is grey and occasionally semi-translucent. There are no gender differences to speak of within their species, yet it is not unknown for certain individuals to adopt a 'masculine' or 'feminine' personality.

Dragsa are asexual in that they do not need to mate to reproduce. Instead, once they reach the age of 100 cycles, their body will produce a growth on their abdomen which they then have the option of self-fertilizing to produce an offspring. If they choose not to fertilize, then the growth will dry up and fall off within a week. The growth re-grows every four months. Gestation takes 12 months.

Infant Dragsa are still attached to their parent for a period of two to three weeks by an umbilical cord. After two weeks, the cord will dry out and fall off both the parent and child. By this point, the child has learned to feed and can begin the process of learning to walk.

Due to an enlarged cranium, Dragsa are able to learn at an accelerated rate and remember much more. As well, their small stature leaves them physically weaker than most other species.


History:
There has never been a large scale war in modern times. After achieving space travel, the Dragsa colonized the other 5 planets in their solar system and set about researching various questions they had regarding the universe as well as allowing their arts to flourish.

In 2235, contact was made with a warp capable civilization. Initially, The Dregsa people had little interest in contact with other species. However, they quickly developed their own warp drives to satisfy their own curiosity.

After nearly a century of exploring for their own curiosity, a group of Dragsa rose to power and worked on revising their views. Soon, the Dragsa made official contact with the Federation and agreed to share information and technology. However, it was another 40 years before the Dragsa joined the Federation.


Politics:
The Dragsa have a rather simple political structure similar to a republic. Each of their cities has a Representative who will speak on behalf of their residents. The Dragsa have been fortunate in that they have been spared from civil wars and planet-wide catastrophes, which has made the need for a larger more complex form of government unneccesary.


Economics:
Dragsa economy is surprisingly similar to Communism on Earth. Except, that it actually works for the Dragsa people.


Religion:
Modern Dragsa have long ago abandoned religion as superstition.
