Lieutenant Vegas -  Chief of Operations

The first of his species born off-world, he was named after where he was born, Las Vegas. While his species often frequents Earth, Vegas' birth was a first for them. This lead to his name being completely different from that of the rest of his species and esspecially his family. Eventually, this lead to a mutual severing of contact.

In an effort to give Vegas the opportunity to learn from both his 'homes', he was constantly shifted back and forth from Earth to Draga until he was the age of 20, which gave him control over his own life.

Having always fostered a love for numbers, Vegas found employment working for a large casino as part of their anti-theft department. Vegas made a name for himself by quickly determining if a person was winning more than they should be, or if they were going to.

His effectiveness is catching scammers and number-counters led Vegas to apply for a position with the police force. While he excelled at the written portions of the exams, his cunning and pattern solving did not translate to anything besides numbers. He failed out.

Facing his first devastating failure of his short life, Vegas returned to where he excelled, but the life no longer appealed to him. It had always been the notion that he wasn't stuck in the position which made him happy. He could leave anytime, or so he thought. Now that belief was shattered.

Several years later after seeing a few of his co-workers leave for Starfleet, Vegas decided to give Starfleet a try.

At first he feared it would be exactly like his failed attempt at police work, but this was different. Like in the casinos, he had found a place where his skills fit and were useful. While he had never really wished to work aboard a starship, but it was something which gave his life purpose and meaning. For that, he was happy.

Personality/General Attitude/Quirks: Vegas has been adapt at remembering various chains of numbers as well as seeing patterns where most other people would see only chaos. He enjoys swimming and because of his lithe body and light weight he easily floats. This has become somewhat of a thorn in his side as he would love to go diving but there is no adequate diving gear designed for his species.
