Lieutenant(jg) Simone Richard-Perreault -
Communications Officer
Simone was born to a relatively wealthy family in French Nice on February
10th 2014 with a tumor on her pancreas of the size of her head and metastasis in
brain and not yet fully developed skeleton.
The girl’s condition was
known to her parents, who decided to keep the baby despite the doctors’
recommendations and Simone was born by a cesarean section two months before the
term was due with life expectancy between four to six weeks. Simone’s parents,
desperate to give their daughter a chance for life, paid for her placement in
cryostasis and on February 24th 2014 the girl was put to sleep and her unit
placed to the orbit of Mars. A faulty propulsion unit caused the device to crash
land on the surface of the planet and after the World War III all information
about the cryostasis program was lost. Fortunately for Simone, the solar panel
that powered the stasis unit wasn’t faulty and it kept the unit running.
Due to the small size of the unit itself, the power source was so small it was
overlooked by all automatic probes and later excursions. Only in early 2364,
when Utopia Planitia Yards were researching the vicinity of the colony for
possible expansion, the unit was discovered functional by the reconnaissance
party.
The moment doctor Martin Richards, the Chief Medical Officer of
Utopia Planitia at that time, laid his eyes upon the 350 years old newborn baby,
he knew he wasn’t likely to give the girl up to anyone else.
He and his
wife, Nurse Veronica Richards, adopted the child even though they were already a
considerably aged pair, having several grandchildren by their older children
already. They raised Simone in loving and caring environment, enjoying their
last chance at parenthood down to all the unpleasant duties charged with it.
As a reward, the youngster in their household prolonged their active life,
rejuvenating the two so much they abandoned their settlement on Mars and once
again set to explore the space.
Simone always knew her origin; it was no
secret in her family and very often debated topic and she’s been fascinated by
the time she originated from ever since, thus history, and archaeology to an
extent, became her second favorite subject, after languages of any sort.
Her parents raised her to an eagerness for knowledge, for always reaching
further. Compared with her brightness and ear for languages, Simone’s future
looked well shaped. Unfortunately, the better she was, the more she was known as
‘the bright kid from 21st century’ and numerous science teams that wanted to
study her were upsetting the girl as well as preconceptions of the crew and
civilians of any ship her parents were transferred to, no matter how her parents
tried to mitigate the impact on their daughter.
Growing up in an
environment of exploration, despite seeing some of the horrors of the Dominion
War, Simone couldn’t see any other option but to follow that life herself.
Nurturing her aural sensitivity, Simone was destined for a career of a
linguist. Earth became ‘too small’ for her when she was fourteen; by the time
she entered the Starfleet Academy at eighteen she could speak the languages of
all the founding members fluently.
In the company of other exceptional
children, that at the Academy formed an average, Simone unbent considerably,
quickly crawling out of her introvert shell, she became a binding element in the
circle of her friends.
After her graduation, Simone vanished without a
trace during her vacation on Risa.
Once she completed the special SFI
training, Simone was stationed on Planet Phantom as a Communications Officer and
later was transferred to the USS Renaissance.
Personality/General Attitude/Quirks: Personality:
Sanguine General Attitude: As if her mind knew Simone was
once on the verge of death, she is enjoying life and all it can bring with full
gulps. When on duty her temper is very tame and she’s all-business, hands-on,
person, a result of her Starfleet Academy professors’ efforts, no doubt. Off
duty she drops the attitude and can be very carefree, joyful, playful and
overall blithe. Sometimes acts on an impulse. Quirks: Likes
to keep the universal translator in her commbadge deactivated and activate it
manually when the need arises. Special Skills/Hobbies:
Simone is a skilled linguist, with an exceptional aural sensitivity.
