Corporal Nestor Gabriel Calis

Nestor’s father Juan Calis is a retired sec/tac officer with distinguished service in Starfleet. After he retired, he and his family settled down on Volan II along the Cardassian border. In 2367, following the Federation-Cardassian War when the Colonies were ceded to the Cardassian side of the DMZ, the Calis moved back to Earth. They settled in Nairobi back on Earth where Juan set up a private security firm and Nestor joined Starfleet. Nestor was recruited into Red Squad, and graduated with honors, despite a few minor disciplinary instances. His first assignment was among the security crew assigned to a station near the Cardassian border shortly after first contact with the Dominion. This brought Nestor into conflict with many of his former friends from the colonies who had joined the Maquis. The Dominion War brings about the destruction of the colonies in the DMZ and the loss of many friends and his oldest brother. After the Battle of Cardassia, Nestor remained on the planet as part of the occupation and rebuilding force in an attempt to keep the Cardassian Union from completely disintegrating. Extended Family/Relatives : Cmdr. Juan Calis (ret.) – father; Esperanza Calis – mother; Hidalgo (deceased), Mateo, and Carlos – older brothers
